The Chanhassen Writers’ Group just published an anthology. Our goal is to encourage and publish local writers of poetry, creative nonfiction and fiction. Everyone published in the book is a member of the writers’ group currently meeting at the Chanhassen Library.  Twenty four authors contributed to this publication.

There was an article about the anthology in the Chaska Herald on 8/21/16.  Click her for a link to the article.

There was also an article in the Sun Sailor on 8/4/16.  Click here for the link.

I wrote a short story for the anthology entitled Interrupted Honeymoon that takes place between the first and second novel of the Star Rider series.

Summer Dreaming Challenge

This summer I’ve been invited to participate in a Summer Dreaming Challenge.  The event is to encourage children to remember and write down their dreams.  There will be tips and games to help children bring their dream intentions into their waking lives, and do things in their waking lives that will enhance their dreams.  These will include stories of famous dreams that changed people’s lives.  The event will include interviews with different authors who have written about dreams or whose book came from a dream.  Star Rider on the Razor’s Edge came from a dream, so I was invited to be one of the authors.

Here are some drawing from a dream in my dream journal.

Below is book review on STAR RDER ON THE RAZOR’S EDGE from Reading Addictions

“There are a lot of moving parts to this novel and a lot of action. I liked the way the characters were relatable even through it was a Sci-Fi Novel. The Sc-Fi aspect is very well done and the imagery and setting is amazing. The author really brings the world to life through words. Get ready to be immersed in the world and captivated by the characters she has created.” by blogger at My Reading Addiction.

Writing for me is part of my mission in life.    It’s important to follow our dreams.  The following are some inspirational quotes that have inspired me.

Inspire- quote by Steve Jobs

“Again, you can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Steve Jobs, Standford Commencement speech, June 12rh, 2005

Another inspirational quote by Mark Twain

“Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

He was credited with the following quote, but there isn’t evidence that he actually said or wrote it, but it’s one of my favorate quotes. “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

Inspirational quote by Marianne Williams- this quote I keep on the wall of my office

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
